Protus Acquires Fax Online Company MyFax

Are we going to see consolidation in the fax online industry? After all, there seem to be many, many players who offer fax services.

Well, today Protus announced that it had acquired all of the assets of the pFax internet fax service from Packetel. The most notable part of the acquisition is the acquisition of the MyFax brand and customer base.

This seems to be a more and more common thing that we are seeing. While fax online companies like eFax concentrate primarily on fax services, other companies like Protus offer a wide range of computerized telecommunication services. Not only do they offer internet faxing, they also offer my1voice virtual phone service and Campaigner e-mail marketing service.

One of the things that I think will prove most interesting is whether consumers will stick with Internet fax companies that concentrate on only the one product or whether over time customers will want to go with companies that have other products as well.
